Trail 31 km

The perfect distance?
29 May 2027
Start:
Sørkedalen at 11 am
GOALS:
squat, rural island

The trail

31 km is perfect for those who think 50 km is too long and 21 km is a bit too short.

The trail starts on a forest road from the Sørkedalen sports complex. The valley is located northwest of Oslo Municipality, and the settlements here consist mainly of farms. The foreigners who run 80 and 50 km find it exotic to come down to Sørkedalen's many red wooden houses, the general store, horses and cows. Sørkedalen is also a favorite place for the capital's many avid skiers, where the snow tends to settle first and melt last.

It's important to take it easy from the 31km start (which is also a checkpoint and support station for the 50 and 80 km). The first 2.5 kilometers are continuous climbs on a bit of a path and mostly forest road. From there you get a fantastic view of Oslogryta and the fjord, and also towards the other side of Sørkedalen towards Tryvannstårnet and Holmenkollen.

After about a couple more kilometers you are at the top and have gained about 200 meters in altitude from the start.

Then you get a little rest in a downhill section before you head onto a lovely windy trail all the way down to Østernvann. From there it's a short walk down to Fossum Sports Complex where there is a food and drink station – and also where the start of the 21 km race is.

Next, the Lysakerelva River awaits, where it eventually becomes really hilly and has narrow, technical trails.

From Lysaker station the trail runs along the fjord and the beautiful Vækerøparken. After the last drink station at Thaugland Trelasthandel you have just over 8+ km left and you will enter rural Bygdøy – where the last 5km are on gravel and some asphalt. Finish at the beach at Huk/Bygdøy.

CUT OFF TIMES AND SUPPORT STATIONS:
Support allowed only within the stations. We do not have drop bags. See FAQ for locations and what is served at the stations.
